There is no road there. The longtail boat to Ao Nang beach takes about 15 minutes and is paid at the hut on the sand, not in the fare: give a pickup point in Ao Nang when you book.

A short stop, say a 7-Eleven or a viewpoint, is usually fine: ask the driver. A real detour is priced before the trip.
Flying from Krabi Airport (KBV) instead?
